I remember growing up and hearing the expression, “Get a life,” often said to me or others I was hanging around. When I was abusing drugs and alcohol, those words bounced off me as quickly as I heard them. But once I found God in my life (or should I say, He was always there for me, but I finally responded to His love and grace), I found a life worth living, and God has been leading me ever since.

When God comes into your life, all your problems do not magically disappear, but you gain an advocate who can help and direct your life.  You, too, can get a life worth living once you surrender the life you are living now and start to follow Jesus. ~ Bill Greguska

John 3:3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”

How Do I Get A Life And Live My Life For God?

God wants us to get a life. Through His Word, he has revealed to us His Word how we are to live for Him. He commands us to love one another, to follow Him to the point of denying our desires. He calls us to care for the poor and needy and warns us not to fall into sinful behaviors like others who don’t know God. Jesus summed up a life lived for God when a teacher of the law asked Him the most important of commandments. Jesus replied, “Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.
The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these” Mark 12:29-31. Those who wish to live for God must seek Him in His Word. We must seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit to apply the Word to our lives. Living for God means giving up ourselves and desiring God’s will. As we draw nearer to God and come to know Him more, His desires will naturally become ours. As we mature, our desire to obey God’s commands increases as our love for Him grows. As Jesus said, “If you love me, you will obey what I command” John 14:15.
