Getting Real In A Superficial World!
I Have Been Thinking, Praying, Searching God’s Word, And Crying Out To The Lord!
I have come to some persuasive conclusions about God. At the very least powerful to me. They are simple truths when our focus is on the Lord can be very clear, but obscure if our focus is on others or ourselves, or we allow our enemy to deceive us. Even though I have been a Christian since 1986, there is room for all of us to grow closer to God. I want to share my thoughts with you if you are interested? I must warn you. Might they hit home with you too? If this does, feel free to share it with others that might benefit from it. If not, thanks for taking the time to read it.
Doing My Best
I have been trying (maybe like you) to grow and understand God better for many years, but specifically in the past five months (July 2019 through November 2019) concerning specific topics in the Bible that are not relevant to mention right now. We need to be getting honest with ourselves and others and, most importantly, God. If we try to see how God sees us, in turn, it will change the way we see ourselves.
1 Samuel 16:7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

I am just getting real with you. God has been revealing much to me during the past five months. But now, I am taking some giant steps in the right direction to be obedient to Him. I am doing this by making some significant changes in my life that I would like to share with you because of the many things God’s Word says, like in Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. It does not mean we need to seek Charles Stanley, Rick Warren, or Billy Graham (fill in the blank). It says clearly in the Bible to seek first HIS kingdom.
People May Try To Help Us With Good Intentions
Sometimes we also may attempt to help them with our good intentions, but our help needs to come from the Lord first above anyone else ultimately! I am guilty of seeking others first sometimes because a voice is friendly and comforting to be able to hear and sometimes easier than praying or reading scripture. I hope you are not guilty too. The bottom line is to seek Jesus Christ in prayer first and foremost. Then if you need more clarification, search the Bible. Then if you need more explanation, ask a close Christian friend who can help point you to Jesus. If you have tried all these things, then possibly a Christian counselor might be helpful. Do not give up. Your answers are near if you continue to wait on the Lord.
I Have Realized I have Given Too Much Space In My Head To Others.
Those who do not necessarily belong there, which have caused me much confusion and frustration. As a result of this and the fact that God is a jealous God, as of today, I am solely putting all my hope and faith in Jesus Christ and putting Jesus on the throne of my life exclusively where He belongs. Yet, I will be open to fellowship with others, but not like I was doing before. I am not going to first run to others for advice like I have in the past. Because I will be running to God first, and I know that He will direct my path better than any preacher or Christian can because He is GOD, although God uses others to speak truth to us when we have ears to hear. Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways, submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
I realize that I need to be a much better Barean and let God’s word direct me from now on instead of allowing others to do so. I have heard so many conflicting things these past five months you would not believe me told you. I am done with it because God’s word says in 1 Corinthians 14:33 For God is not a God of disorder but of peace.
As it says in Proverbs 4:23 Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. To a degree, I have failed to do that, and I have suffered the consequences of my foolishness. But not any longer. From now on, I will use this brain and heart that God has blessed me with and follow Him much more closely.
I pray that what I have shared will either make you see things differently or reinforce your faith in Jesus that much more! When a person says something, it may or may not be accurate, but if God in His Word says something, it is true! We all need to test the spirits. 1 John 4:1 Dear friends, do not believe every spirit but test the spirits to see whether they are from God because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
The Real Bottom Line
If we as Christians would be more concerned about what it says in Mark 12:30-31 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” But no, we (I) run everywhere, but where God wants us, we argue and fight about foolishness and miss the whole point of why Christ came to this world. James 4:1 What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you?
As I Was Getting Real To Discover Deeper Truths God, He Drew More Near!
Not only in these past five months, but the whole time they were right in front of me, and all I needed to do was ask God instead of running here and there for my answers. James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. I did not plan to write this much, but this all has been heavy on my heart. I needed to share it may be partially for my sake, but at least for your sake, so you can learn from my mistakes. It would be terrible if you had to have to make the same mistakes I have made. I am just getting real with you to point out some things you might not have realized in your walk with the Lord.
We all want God to forgive us when we do wrong and sin. Yet we often are so often unwilling to forgive others, but God tells us in Matthew 6:15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. I thank God for every person He has put into my life who has helped point me to the Lord. Yet, our relationship with God is a personal thing. We need to make our minds up how we are to live. Yet, now I realize the importance of taking my (your) marching orders from God solely and allow Him to speak through His Word, the way He reveals His truth to me and each one of us individually because of our relationship with Him. God has put a lot on my heart, and now the test comes in whether or not I (we) obey?
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in HIM shall not perish but have eternal life.
