Fellow believers and seekers of truth, it’s important to remember that being a religious skeptic is not always a choice made out of pure curiosity or intellectual inquiry. Many individuals have been influenced by the negative words and opinions of others, as well as the deceptive schemes of Satan himself. It can be easy to fall prey to the lies spread by society and media, but we must remain vigilant in seeking the truth for ourselves. Even so, there are still those who hold onto their skepticism despite having grown up with faith-based teachings such as Catholic or Protestant, and values instilled in them from childhood. However, let us not judge them harshly or dismiss their doubts without acknowledging how difficult it can be to overcome certain mindsets and beliefs instilled early on in life.

Let us instead continue to share our own experiences with God’s love and mercy, for truly it is through personal encounters with Him that our faith grows deeper roots. May we all strive towards becoming more open-minded yet discerning about what influences us spiritually – may we never forget what God has done for us, no matter how small or grandiose those blessings may seem! Many people are religious skeptics because of what others and Satan have put in their minds, and they have entertained the thoughts. They have bought the lies of the world and our media and have swallowed the lies they have heard. Many of them are “nice” people, yet when this life is over one day, they will, unfortunately, be separated from God. I was a little different since my parents raised me to believe in God and to pray. It would be hard for me not to believe in God, not only because of what I was taught in a Christian school and church but because of what God has done for me in my life; the Lord healed me of my alcohol and drug addiction in 1986, and what He continues to do in my life is more than enough proof that God is alive and lives within those who believe in Him. ~ Bill Greguska

Matthew 14:31  Immediately, Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”

Are You A Religious Skeptic?

A Believer in God, or Just a “Good Person?”

I think if a person stands for the six principles listed below, that is a good indication that they* are a Christian. Still, others may be considered “good people.” But there is a difference between good people and those professing faith as Christians according to biblical standards. This made me wonder why some people believe in God and others do not. The scripture below differentiates between a believer  and someone who is not.
Romans 10:9-10 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
Many “good people” may believe in the following principles:
  1. Love one another.
  2. Be kind to one another.
  3. Forgive one another.
  4. Help one another
  5. Put other’s needs ahead of your own.
  6. Do to others as you want them to do to you.

I know there is more to Christianity than these six principles, but I find it hard to understand why anyone would not live by them, since they point to love and peace. Something to think about — if we keep it simple, Christianity makes a whole lot of sense!!!

I have a few theories about why people do not want to believe in Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
  1. Satan has blinded their eyes and hearts.
  2. Faith is hard to understand.
  3. Our fleshly desires do not match up with Christianity.
  4. Church takes time out of our already busy schedules.
  5. Alcohol, drugs, and sexuality conflict with the “rules” of being a believer.
  6. The belief that church is just a waste of time.
  7. Mental illness, depression, etc.
  8. The belief that it is easier to live in a way that pleases them physically or emotionally.
  9. The influence of the media and the lack of morals demonstrated in movies, advertisements, TV, Internet.
  10. The belief that they do not need God to tell them how to live.
  11. They are lazy and/or rebellious.
  12. They view Christians as being hypocritical.
  13. Church leaders that commit crimes.
  14. People who they judge to be money-grabbing TV evangelists.
  15. The belief that the church’s main purpose is to make money.
  16. Sin feels good, and they don’t intend to stop.

As Christians sharing our faith with others, we are not responsible for how others respond to the gospel, yet we are responsible for sharing the good news with everyone. I believe we must not beat others over the head with the Bible, yet we should present the gospel in a way that is interesting. That is why I share encouragement cards all over the city of Milwaukee and use the internet to share the good news through my website.

We can not change others, but we can influence them. Only the Holy Spirit can change people. However, we can keep these people in our prayers and share a word or two to point them to the Lord. I think the bare minimum is to pray for the lost, and to be grateful to God that we are no longer lost.
Every person on this planet is one decision away from ending up in jail or prison. We should thank God for redeeming us and protecting us from the temptations of our flesh, the world, and the devil. We must never think of ourselves as better than others. Instead, we need to thank God for saving us and calling us His own. We can’t take this for granted but must consciously see ourselves humbly saved by God’s grace. As the expression says, “There but for the grace of God go I. These thoughts I have shared makes me thank God for giving me a better perspective on life than I used to have.

Does Science Disprove God?

What God Has Done…

From what I have learned from the Bible and what I have experienced in my life, there is no doubt that God created the world and everything in it. Then I take a quick look at how God organized the years, months, weeks, and days to all fit into a predictable calendar. Science even backs up what the Bible has claimed to be right over the centuries. Being a logical person, you, too, will understand the truth of the Bible if you give the Bible a chance to prove itself to you, so you can also believe by faith that God created the entire universe, including you and me.

No Time For God:

(This part is from The BookI wrote)

Lord, fortunately, I have heard and known about you since I was a small boy, but I didn’t understand my need for you until my life hit a dark point due to drugs and alcohol. It took me 26 years to seriously commit my life to you. Even though my parents instilled good morals in me, I traded them for the sinful promises of this world and followed my fleshly desires.

Eventually, though, when I hit bottom and had nowhere to go, I turned to you. You were faithful to restore me and give me the hope and direction I needed. I am a testimony to the fact that you allow U-turns in life! You are a God of second chances, and you want us all to be reconciled to you.

I am so thankful I have accepted you as my Lord and my Savior! I also thank you for allowing me to be a dad because that has made me understand you in a new way. I loved my children and cared for them, provided for them, reasoned with them, walked with them, plus much more — but not to the degree that you do, Lord, for you are the ultimate Father and no one compares to you. I sometimes ask myself how important my faith in you is, compared to other things in my life. I thank you for all you mean to me, and I am sorry for the times I take you for granted.

The Bible tells us that Jesus Christ came to do three things. He came to have my past forgiven, get a purpose for living and a home in Heaven. ~ Rick Warren, evangelical pastor and author of The Purpose Driven Life, which has sold more than 30 million copies.

Will This Religious Skeptic Get His Answers?

What Is One Definition Of A Religious Skeptic?

Religious skepticism is a type of uncertainty relating to religion. Religious skeptics question religious authority and are not necessarily anti-religious but are skeptical of specific religious beliefs and practices. Some are deists, believing in a non-interventionist god(s) and rejecting mainstream religions. Socrates was one of the first religious skeptics of whom there are records; he questioned the legitimacy of the beliefs of his time in the existence of the Greek gods.

Why Would Someone Choose To Be A Religious Skeptic?

God protected and guided me all these years, even when I was rebellious. I look out the window and see the beauty of nature that God has created, and I can only believe that a good God has created it there. This all. It is one thing to have questions about God. It is another thing to be a religious skeptic or not even be interested or close-mindedly, turned off entirely by anything having to do with God, possibly from past church experiences, the influence of this evil world, Satan, or their fleshly desires. God has shown me grace and mercy and without doubt, I know He loves us all. He has given us life and the breath that we breathe. I pray that the Holy Spirit works in your heart for you to understand God’s wisdom, power, mercy, love, and grace if you have not done so already!  Bill Greguska
