Prejudice is a weight that has been dragging our society down for far too long. It’s not just about black and white. It runs deeper than that, snaking its way through all our lives. But we must remember that there is only one race – the human race! We were all created by God with red blood flowing through our veins. Our differences make us unique and beautiful in His eyes.

Prejudice Is Very Ugly And Contagious! I Recall My Parents And Some Of My Friends Who Had Some Prejudice, While Others Were Boldly Prejudice. This Impacted Me, But When I Met My Friend Clifford Walker On The Pius Basketball Team Freshman Year. He Changed My View Of Black People, Since I Took The Time To Get To Know Clifford, My View Point Changed! Believe Me, Prejudice Can Be Overcome!

Unfortunately, prejudice has crept into some of our hearts due to societal influences and the temptations of Satan. But don’t lose hope! With prayer and commitment to God, we can break this cycle of hate and open our hearts to love and acceptance for all people, regardless of their skin color or background. The power to make a change lies within each of us; let’s take action towards healing racial divides together! ~ Bill Greguska

Romans 12:10  Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.

Martin Luther King Jr. Breaking Racial Prejudice

My Confession Of Prejudices Society Planted In My Head That God Removed!

Many parents have planted seeds of prejudice in their children. My parents, even though they were wonderful people, demonstrated some subtle prejudices towards black people, Jewish people, and also rich people.

I share this story with you to prove a point. Anyone or anything we are unfamiliar with can (and usually does) cause us to be uncomfortable. That is where prejudice, fear, and distrust breed and grow. Ignorance fuels the flames of intolerance and even anger. The way to overcome it is to talk to God about it and get to know one another! You are not the only person with racial bias. Racial problems are common in the United States. We are all wired with some bias or prejudice at one time or another because of our sinful nature. I was raised in an entirely white neighborhood. I didn’t know a black person until I was a freshman at Pius XI High School when I met my first black friend, Clifford Walker.

Clifford And I Opened Up With Each Other!

Clifford and I talked deeper than just talking about our favorite sports teams. We grew and learned from one another. Clifford and I played on the same basketball team; our common denominator was basketball. After a couple of years on the same team, we knew our skin color was different, but we had the same blood color. Yes, Clifford was raised differently than I was, but that is par for the course with any relationship. We grew to know that our goal was the same on the basketball court, to win the conference championship—and we quickly learned that we could win the title if we focused on what we had in common instead of how we were different. Meeting the starting guard, Clifford, and getting to know him was the best way to eliminate lies I heard about black people back in 1975.

Can You Relate To What I Am Saying? (Are You Prejudice?)

I was given stereotypes of not only black people. This so-called formula of anti-prejudice worked also with Jewish people. This foolish thinking ended abruptly when I was a caregiver for Ben Hersh. He and his family were Jewish, and after a short period, I realized prejudice like that was foolish on my part. I was Ben’s caregiver for 7 and 1/2 years. Ben and his parents and brother and sister were like family to me, I loved each of them. So there went another seed that was planted by my parents and society that was debunked.

Parents And Peers Can Influence Us For The Worse Sometimes!

The last prejudice my parents, society, and Satan planted in my brain was that of rich people. It was in about 1990 that I attended a Bible study at Jim Oatman’s house. He was probably one of the richest people I knew. But that prejudice of rich people went out the door, too, after getting to know Jim and his wife. I have learned a lot about prejudices from my high school friend Cliff Walker (concerning black people) and also Ben Hersh and his family (concerning Jewish people), and finally, my Bible study leader Jim Oatman (concerning rich people)

I Hope You Can Learn From My Ignorance!

I am so thankful for having contact with this friend who taught me that prejudice was foolishness. We got to know each other and I saw how humble and kind Jim was to me and everyone. I do believe the best way to overcome any prejudice is to spend time getting to know those people whom our parents, society, and Satan have brainwashed us to believe falsehoods about different people groups. Prejudice is not from God, so it is obviously from Satan himself.  I encourage you to examine your own heart to see if there is any prejudice in your heart. ~ Bill Greguska

Not Just White Or Black!

Prejudice Is Not Limited To Just One Or Two Races!

Prejudice runs deep and wide, affecting people of all ethnicities and backgrounds. Sadly, some individuals have grown up in environments where prejudice was ingrained into their thinking from an early age. However, we must remember that anything is possible with God at our side! We are reminded that we are all created equal and that the only race is the human race. Our skin may run different colors on the outside, but inside, it’s all red- a reminder of how much alike we truly are.

With prayer and God’s help, hearts can be softened, and minds can be changed. Prejudice can be overcome when there is a sincere commitment to love others as ourselves because, ultimately, “love conquers all.” Let us unite against prejudice by showing love towards one another as God intended us to do so!

Prejudice Is Not From God!

Are You Prejudice? What About Racial Prejudice?

Racial prejudice can be overcome!

Racial prejudice has been passed down but needs to be looked at for what it is: sin!

Prejudice Does Not Serve Any Good Purpose!

If you have a racial prejudice against any race, I pray you will be willing to let it go!

John 13:34-35 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this, everyone will know that you are my disciples if you love one another.”

However, because of our sinful nature and fear and how our parents have brought us up and influenced us via the media, false pre-judgments have gotten into each one of our lives to some degree. I am saying that it does not have to continue! God has given us knowledge and wisdom to overcome racial prejudice, and the Holy Spirit can change your life because of God’s word in the Bible.

BASICS Ministry Is Doing Something About Racial Prejudice!

Ways Of Melting Away Years Of Racial Prejudice! (Are You Prejudice?)

What practical ways can we love one another, especially if someone is different ethnically, politically, spiritually, or in any other manner than us?

  1. Ask questions about them rather than start by talking about myself.
  2. Listen.
  3. Love one another warmly as Christians, and be eager to show respect for one another.
  4. Spend time with them, listen to their hearts, and pray for and with them.
  5. Try to love people in my strength or allow Jesus to love people through me.
  6. Ask how I can pray for them. Take time to listen.
  7. Am I branching out intentionally to be with others different than ourselves?
  8. Treat each person we encounter as if we were greeting Jesus Christ! I was sitting with someone, dining with them, hearing their story.
  9. Ask God to help us to love them unconditionally as He loves me!
