We are called by God to love one another. There is a difference between forgiveness and reconciliation. It is clear what is written in Matthew 6:15 But. if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. Reconciliation goes one step beyond forgiveness. God commands us to forgive, but God does not command us to be reconciled in every situation. Sometimes things cannot be put back in a healthy way again, but God’s will requires forgiveness, or He will not forgive us as it says. If we were sincere, each of us would have to admit that we have gotten into conflict with others. 

The fact of life is that it is a shame that I have lost a few friends because we could not work out things with one another. God commands us to forgive others, yet God does not command us to be reconciled with others. Sometimes the offense is too great to see the offender again, yet we do not have an option concerning forgiveness. I have been a part of some beautiful reconciliations with friends in the past, which is always the hope we ought to have. People get into arguments and disagreements all the time in our society.  Thankfully people often have been raised well enough to work things out via an apology by one or both people involved. That is called forgiveness, but not every situation gets 100% resolved. Sadly, in those cases, due to physical safety or a cold heart, it can sometimes be best to go their separate ways, unfortunately. ~ Bill Greguska

Ephesians 4:32 ESV 

Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

2 Corinthians 5:18 ESV 

All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation;

Romans 5:10 ESV 

For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life?

Matthew 18:15-17 ESV 

“If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.

2 Corinthians 5:18-21 ESV

All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ, God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you, on behalf of Christ, to be reconciled to God. For our sake, he made him to be sin who knew no sin so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Matthew 5:23-26 ESV 

So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there, remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go. First, be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. Come to terms quickly with your accuser while you are going with him to court, lest your accuser hand you over to the judge and the judge to the guard, and you be put in prison. Truly, I say to you, you will never get out until you have paid the last penny.

Colossians 1:20 ESV

And through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.

Hebrews 12:14 ESV 

Strive for peace with everyone and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.

Luke 23:34 ESV 

And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” And they cast lots to divide his garments.

Pay attention to yourselves! If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him,
