Have I done all I can, with God’s help, to make my marriage a beautiful bond through constant effort, patience, and understanding? It’s not just about sex and romance; it’s also about respecting each other’s opinions, supporting each other through thick and thin, and working together as a team to overcome any obstacle. Bottom line: Is God in your marriage? If not, that is where you need to start!

How To Have A Good Life-Long Marriage That Lasts?

Want a healthy marriage relationship? NeedEncouragement.comLearn from what others have done in their successful marriage relationships and from those in relationships that did not work like mine. It takes two willing and committed partners to stick together through the storms of life. Otherwise, the storms will overtake the marriage relationship and crash into the rocks!

A healthy marriage relationship starts with God and takes effort, energy, forgiveness, patience, understanding, commitment, mutual submission, and love!

When it starts, every marriage has two people (both of whom have a sinful nature) who bring their own “baggage” or “preferences” that need to be somehow blended to become one. Each spouse need not lose their identity; instead, they gain a philosophy of teamwork through communication and compromise, all under the authority of Jesus Christ.

I was married for almost ten years, but our marriage ended in a divorce. Looking back, I would have done some things differently. I would have focused more on our communication and gotten to know her better when we dated.

Sometimes, learning from what others went through means you do not have to reinvent the wheel, GOD’SCOUPLESMUST-WATCHsaying, as my pastor Ron Sauer used to say. ~ Bill Greguska

If You Want A Strong Marriage ~ Think Of It Like Being A Dance!

Unfortunately, my ex-wife and I did not see eye to eye from almost the start, yet I always hoped we would grow and work together in our marriage.

  1. Do you always need to be right in your marriage relationship?
  2. Do you work together as a team or as individual players?
  3. Are you good at forgiving?
  4. Do you think you’re good at apologizing?
  5. Is your marriage partner your best friend?

If marriage is centered on God and each other, it should succeed, but commitment, sacrifice, and teamwork are required.

Some Specific Scriptures To Encourage You:

1 Peter 3:7 ESV

Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel since they are heirs with you of the grace of life so that your prayers may not be hindered.

Ephesians 5:31 ESV

“Therefore, a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”

Ephesians 5:22-33 ESV

Wives, submit to your own husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. Now, as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands. Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word.
