This page encourages people who may be struggling with a drinking problem to seek help, hope, and recovery through faith in God, counseling, support, and practical resources. I share from my own experience with alcohol and drug addiction, emphasizing that addiction can destroy lives but that lasting freedom is possible through Jesus Christ, wise support, and taking recovery one day at a time. Having a drinking problem is a tough battle to fight. It doesn’t just affect you; it also impacts the people around you. I know from personal experience that a drinking problem almost destroyed my life.  At First, drugs and alcohol seemed like fun and games—a way to let loose and have a good time with friends. But as time went on, my addiction took over, and it was like hell to me. It was through prayer, counseling, and the support of caring people like my mom that I finally found hope for my life in recovery.

Ephesians 5:18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.

Has The Media Brainwashed You?

Our society has been fooling people into believing that alcohol consumption is typical and increases the value of one’s personal experiences in life through the media. This conditioning and brainwashing is a lie from the pit of hell. Alcohol has destroyed and dissolved many marriages, families, jobs, health, finances, and more! Yes, some people can drink occasionally and not have those horrendous results, but being human, the lust for pleasure can often grow, and no one is immune to it.

For your own good, I suggest you do not drink alcohol. Still, if you insist on drinking for your own sake and the sake of others in your life, be very, very careful because, to be honest, alcohol is not our friend at all; it is not a necessity; it is a wolf dressed in sheep’s clothing. Alcohol is dangerous, killing many on the highways and taking many people’s lives. I know because it did it to me. ~ Bill Greguska

Do You Need to Rethink Your Drinking?

Drinking problem? NeedEncouragement.comI went to a few 30-day rehab programs, but they did not seem to be enough to help me. It was not until I went into long-term treatment that my addiction was broken in 1986. Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. When my peers influenced me to try marijuana, and once that happened, it sure changed my life for the worse.

The way I was living my life led to some tough times. Even though my life was a mess, I was thankful that I was raised to understand that God loved me, and I was convinced that I was not living right. In other words, I had a hard time living for immediate gratification and not living the life God wanted for me. It may sound strange to you, but being in treatment for two years was, without a doubt, the biggest blessing I could have gotten! I can see how God used each person at the treatment center to help me specifically! ~ Bill Greguska

Has Alcohol Become Too Important in Your Life?

Alcohol And Drugs!

I was not the only one using marijuana and abusing alcohol—I was just grateful that God gave me what I needed to get my life back on track in 1986. I cannot say that God tempted me, but I can say that He provided a way out for me when I chose to look for it.  In my estimation, any drug that is not meant for medical healing or improving health would be considered either a soft or hard drug and should be treated as something that should not be used.  Proverbs 1:10 My son, if sinners entice you, do not give in to them.

How can something like marijuana or beer become such a powerful tool of destruction? My drinking problem and drug addiction were like a bit of a snake, initially scary but supposedly harmless. As time passed, the snake became more extensive, and my appetite for marijuana and the lifestyle that went with it grew in proportion. ~ Bill Greguska

The Truth About Drinking Too Much!

The consequences of marijuana and beer started to take effect and create more damage. My lying to my mom and dad increased, the regularity of being stoned and drunk increased, the run-ins with the police increased, and I lost control of my life and choices. I lost my chance to play college basketball, got my girlfriend pregnant, had a motorcycle accident, messed up my knee, plus got kicked out of 3 high schools.

Life was getting totally out of control, and I was reaping what I had sown. The bottom line, without hesitation, is that it is only okay to drink alcohol if it does not cause any problems for a person. But for me, it almost took my life! ~ Bill Greguska
