Do you have self-discipline? To mature, you need this character trait! Having self-discipline is a powerful way to let God know you trust Him and His plan for your life. It means saying no to the things that may bring temporary pleasure but ultimately lead you away from God’s will. We all have moments when we want to indulge in something bad for us, but if we take a step back and think about what truly matters, we can make better decisions. Keep in mind that sin can be pleasurable for the moment, but it always leads you away from God and towards destruction. Instead of seeking instant gratification, try to focus on honoring God and on experiencing the deep satisfaction of living according to God’s plan rather than your own sinful desires.

Luke 9:23  Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.

Denying Yourself Is The Start Of Something Good!

Instead of chasing after fleeting pleasures that ultimately lead to emptiness and despair, let us deny ourselves those temptations and seek what truly satisfies our deepest longings. Let us remember that denying ourselves is a way to grow closer to God and experience true fulfillment and joy in this life and beyond. So today, let us embrace the challenge of denying ourselves and trust that God has something far greater in store for us than anything we could ever imagine!

Realize that being a disciple of Jesus Christ means denying yourself and your sinful desires. The most challenging requirement of being a disciple of Jesus Christ is to deny yourself. We are all born with selfishness built right in us. It does not have to be taught, and resisting our natural desires is an ongoing battle. Denying oneself is key to being a follower of Jesus Christ. Read Romans 13:14. “Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature.”
