What To Know About God ~ Jesus ~ And The Bible!
There is much to be said for keeping things simple. Many people have a fractured or inaccurate understanding of who God is (whether God is an angry, mean being who condemns us for any reason or a sweet, loving grandpa who gives us anything we ask for). I decided to share a brief, encouraging aerial view of who God is, His purpose, His plan, and His love for us. Remember that knowing many “facts or scriptures” about God or the Bible is good, but the actual test is to live a life of love for God and others; otherwise, we would be resounding gongs. God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit have existed for eternity—the alpha and omega, the beginning and end.
What Has God Done In Your Life?
God created the heavens and the earth in 6 days, called it good, and it was. He created Adam, then Eve, and they lived in the Garden of Eden. But Satan, who was a fallen angel, tempted Eve to sin by eating the fruit that God prohibited Adam and Eve from even touching. Sin came upon the world because of that disobedience, resulting in sin, which has been with us ever since and will be until the Lord takes His people home. God did not want us to be robots, so He gave us free will. With that free will, we have chosen to sin in areas such as lying, stealing, killing, adultery, and sexual sins.
God wanted a relationship with us, yet to do so, He had to sacrifice His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for our sins, for us to be with God in heaven. God is holy and can not be in the presence of sin, which is why God provided us with Jesus as an offering to redeem us back to God. We need to know that we are in a spiritual battle with Satan because Satan can not do anything in retaliation against God, whom he hates, so Satan wars against us.
How Can You Share Your Faith With Others?
There are many ways we can share God with others. We can demonstrate this to them through our testimony and actions. We can invite them to attend your church or a Christian movie or to come over for a meal and discuss their questions. I also like to hand out encouragement cards from my website, NeedEncouragement.com, or Bible tracts. Remember, prayer has so much power. Pray for others and yourself to grow closer to God, and ask, “What do you want me to do?”
I encourage you to set aside quiet time to be with God through prayer, Bible reading, reflection, and fellowship with other believers. In addition, I encourage you to find a Bible-believing church to attend if you do not currently have one. I also encourage you to find a mentor to walk with you as you walk with Jesus. In this age of the internet, some good websites, such as Biblegateway.com, GotQuestions.org, and my website NeedEncouragement.com, are excellent resources to help you grow in your faith.
