35 Bible Verses About Finding A Good Church!

Please get in touch with us if you have any questions or need some encouragement.

This page encourages you to find and commit to a Bible-believing local church as a vital part of spiritual growth. It stresses that church is about community, worship, teaching from God’s Word, serving others, and mutual encouragement—not just attending services. You’re urged to pray for guidance, visit multiple churches, evaluate teaching, leadership, fellowship, and opportunities for service, and then get involved once you find a good fit.

I emphasize that no church is perfect, but a healthy church loves God, honors Scripture, loves others, and shines as a light in the world. On this page, we also offer questions to consider, related resources, and key Bible verses about the importance of the church and regular gathering with other believers.

I started to attend Elmbrook church right after getting out of long-term alcohol and drug treatment. God healed me from my addictions; then He started working on my salvation, regeneration, and a closer walk with the Lord. Shortly after that, I attended Elmbrook, a Bible-believing church, from 1989 until 2016. I was well taught by Pastor Stuart Briscoe and was grounded in my faith at Elmbrook. In 2016, I began attending Redeemer Evangelical Free Church. Redeemer is also a Bible-believing church.

How To Find A Good Church?

It Does Not Matter What Church You Attend…

Just as long as it is a Bible-believing church that you get connected to. Also, keep in mind that a church is not meant for saints. A church is a hospital for sinners to get well, find the light, and share it with others! The Christian faith starts in the home, branches out to the church, and then reaches out to others in the community, both Christians and non-Christians. Find a good church and get involved. Ask God if the church you are in now could be improved with your help. Suppose you are new to the area and searching for a good church. Finding a good church is significant. Do not just show up at the church; get involved, know others, and grow with them in your church. Be sure the church is Bible-believing, and visit it before you join. Make sure you understand what the church believes before joining. ~ Bill Greguska

Find a Good Church And Keep It Simple!

Here are four characteristics that all the people from a good church should have that my friend Jackie Hynes shared with me:

  4. Be a light

Anyone who seeks Christ must first find the church. How could anyone know where Christ is and what faith is in him unless he knew where his believers were? ~ Martin Luther

Hebrews 10:24-25  And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Attending church allows you to learn from God’s word, apply it to your life, and share it with others. If considering changing churches, prayerfully consider essential factors such as a Bible-believing focus on Jesus Christ, opportunities for community involvement, and overall ministry fit before making any decisions. Remember that finding a good church takes time, but it’s essential and worth the investment because it will strengthen your walk with the Lord!
