Please get in touch with us if you have any questions or need some encouragement.

A simple definition of prejudice is simply prejudging someone! Prejudice is a very ugly thing, and besides that, it is contagious! I recall my parents and some of my friends who had some prejudice, while others were boldly prejudiced. This impacted me as a young boy, but it was not until my first year at Pius XI High School that I met my friend Clifford Walker, who was on the basketball team with me. Clifford completely changed my view of black people. It was because we had something in common (Basketball), and I took the time to get to know Clifford, and I got to like him as a person, not as a black guy. I have learned that prejudice can be overcome with a little willingness to try and an open mind. Clifford and I became good friends on the basketball team for three years at Pius XI.

Romans 12:10  Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.

Martin Luther King Jr. Breaking Racial Prejudice!

What does it mean to become all things to all people (1 Corinthians 9:22)?

You Can Fight Your Natural Tendency Of Prejudice!

I want you to ask yourself this question: Are you prejudiced? Prejudice is a weight that has been dragging our society down for far too long. It’s not just about black and white. It runs deeper than that, snaking its way through all our lives. But we must remember that there is only one race – the human race! We were all created by God with red blood flowing through our veins. Our differences make us unique and beautiful in His eyes.

Unfortunately, prejudice has crept into some of our hearts due to societal influences and the temptations of Satan. But don’t lose hope! With prayer and commitment to God, we can break this cycle of hate and open our hearts to love and acceptance for all people, regardless of their skin color or background. The power to make a change lies within each of us; let’s take action together to heal racial divides! ~ Bill Greguska

My Confession Of Prejudices Society Planted In My Head That God Removed!

Many parents have planted seeds of prejudice in their children. My parents, even though they were terrific people, demonstrated some subtle prejudices towards black people, Jewish people, and also rich people.

I’m sharing this story with you to make a point. Anyone or anything we are unfamiliar with can (and usually does) make us uncomfortable. That is where prejudice, fear, and distrust breed and grow. Ignorance fuels intolerance and even anger. The way to overcome it is to talk to God about it and get to know one another! You are not the only person with racial bias. Racial problems are common in the United States. We are all wired with some bias or prejudice at one time or another because of our sinful nature. I was raised in an entirely white neighborhood. I didn’t know a black person until I was a freshman at Pius XI High School, when I met my first black friend, Clifford Walker.

Clifford And I Opened Up Communication With Each Other!

Clifford and I talked about more than just our favorite sports teams. We grew and learned from one another. Clifford and I played on the same basketball team; our common denominator was basketball. After a couple of years on the same team, we knew our skin colors were different, but we had the same blood type. Yes, Clifford was raised differently from mecame to realize that our goal was the same on the basketball court: to win the conference championship—and we quickly learned that we could win the title if we focused on what we had in common rather thanhat we could win the title if we concentrate on what we had in common instead of how we were different. Meeting the starting guard, Clifford, and getting to know him was the best way to dispel the lies I had heard about black people back in 1975.

Can You Relate To What I Am Saying? (Are You Prejudiced?)

I was given stereotypes of not only black people. This so-called formula of anti-prejudice also worked with Jewish people. This foolish thinking ended abruptly when I was a caregiver for Ben Hersh. He and his family were Jewish, and after a short period, I realized prejudice like that wasn’t very smart on my part. I was Ben’s caregiver for 7 and 1/2 years. Ben, his parents, brother, and sister were like family to me. I loved each of them. So there went another seed planted by my parents and society, debunked.

Parents And Peers Can Sometimes Influence Us For The Worse!

The last prejudice my parents, society, and Satan planted in my brain was that of wealthy people. It was in about 1990 that I attended a Bible study at Jim Oatman’s house. He was one of the wealthiest people I knew. But that prejudice of rich people went out the door, too, after getting to know Jim and his wife. I have learned a lot about prejudices from my high school friend Cliff Walker (concerning black people), Ben Hersh and his family (about Jewish people), and finally, my Bible study leader Jim Oatman (related to rich people).

I Hope You Can Learn From My Ignorance!

I am so thankful to have had contact with this friend who taught me that prejudice is foolishness. We got to know each other, and I saw how humble and kind Jim was to me and everyone. I do believe the best way to overcome any prejudice is to spend time getting to know those people whom our parents, society, and Satan have brainwashed us to believe falsehoods about different people groups. Prejudice is not from God, so it is obviously from Satan himself. I encourage you to examine your own heart to see if there is any prejudice. ~ Bill Greguska

Prejudice Is Not Limited To Just One Or Two Races!

Prejudice runs deep and wide, affecting people of all ethnicities and backgrounds. Sadly, some individuals have grown up in environments where prejudice was ingrained into their thinking from an early age. However, we must remember that anything is possible with God at our side! We are reminded that we are all created equal and that the only race is the human race. Our skin may run different colors on the outside, but inside, it’s all red- a reminder of how much alike we truly are.

With prayer and God’s help, hearts can be softened, and minds changed. Prejudice can be overcome when there is a sincere commitment to love others as ourselves because, ultimately, “love conquers all.” Let us unite against prejudice by showing love towards one another as God intended!

Take Your Challenge One Step Further:

Perhaps through your church or a friend, get to know someone of a different race.

  1. If you are white, make friends with a black person.
  2. If you are black, make friends with a white person.
  3. As you pursue this challenge, you will see the other person as a potential friend rather than someone to be afraid of.

Prejudice Is Not From God!

Are You Prejudiced?

Racial prejudice can be overcome!

Racial prejudice has been passed down, but needs to be looked at for what it is: sin!

Prejudice Serves No Good Purpose!

If you have a racial prejudice against any race, I pray you will be willing to let it go!

John 13:34-35 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this, everyone will know that you are my disciples if you love one another.”

However, because of our sinful nature, fear, and how our parents have brought us up and influenced us via the media, false pre-judgments have gotten into each one of our lives to some degree. I am saying that it does not have to continue! God has given us the knowledge and wisdom to overcome racial prejudice, and the Holy Spirit can change your life through God’s word in the Bible.

Ways Of Melting Away Years Of Racial Prejudice! (Are You Prejudiced?)

What practical ways can we love one another, especially when someone is different from us ethnically, politically, spiritually, or otherwise?

  1. Ask questions about them rather than start by talking about myself.
  2. Listen.
  3. Love one another warmly as Christians, and be eager to show respect for one another.
  4. Spend time with them, listen to their hearts, and pray for and with them.
  5. Try to love people in my strength, or allow Jesus to love people through me.
  6. Ask how I can pray for them. Could you take time to listen?
  7. Am I branching out intentionally to be with others who are different from us?
  8. Treat each person we encounter as if we were greeting Jesus Christ! I was sitting with someone, dining with them, hearing their story.
  9. Ask God to help us love them unconditionally, as He loves us!
