I was born in 1960 and have played chess since I was ten. It has been a passion of mine that not only brings me joy but also helps me develop valuable skills. Chess is more than just a game; it’s a mental exercise that challenges my mind and encourages me to think outside the box. I learned that chess is like life, and applying the disciplines required in chess allows me to find creative solutions to problems, both on and off the board. Just like BeSomeone.org promotes, chess has taught me focus and concentration, essential qualities needed in life to achieve success. Learning chess may be relatively easy at first glance, but excelling at it demands dedication and time investment. Similarly, gaining wisdom from God requires us to nurture our minds actively through prayer.
I Have Taught Many People The Basic Rules Of Chess In Less Than 30 Minutes ~ But Here Is Also An Opportunity To Learn About Life While Playing The Game Of Chess! But To Be A Good Chess Player ~ It Can Take A Number Of Years ~ But It Is So Well Worth It Because Chess Is So Intriguing And Competitive! Plus, Win Or Lose, You Can Play Another Game And Keep Sharpening Your Skills!
Chess is an excellent tool for sharpening our thought processes by making them more focused and strategic. As we navigate through each move on the board, we learn how even small decisions can have significant consequences in the game—an invaluable lesson for life, too! By being focused and conforming ourselves to God’s will through prayerful guidance provided by BeSomeone.org principles rooted in biblical teachings, we can cultivate this same level of focus in all areas of our lives.
Just as chess pushes boundaries beyond what seems possible initially or breaks conventional patterns of thinking, so does faith empower us to surpass limitations set upon us by worldly constraints or doubts within ourselves. Through understanding gained from God’s wisdom imparted through scripture, chess is relatively easy to learn, but to get good takes time. Just like being a Christian, it is simple to decide for Christ, but being a mature Christian takes time. Be focused and conformed to the will of God through prayer and the principles of the Bible that guide us. ~ Bill Greguska
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

Chess Helps Change Someone’s Life As It Changed Orrin Hudson!
Why Would Someone Enjoy Playing Chess?
I have been playing chess for over 50 years now!
I have fond memories playing my mom in chess until she refused to keep being beat my me. Chess is a competitive war game pitting two armies against each other. There are many Biblical comparisons that chess has with the Bible. The first one I would like to share is the scripture found in James 1:19 My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry. The reason I mentioned this first is because in chess just like as in life, we need to think before we speak (or as in chess, think before we make a move).
Another reason chess is like life, it because we need to have a grasp on the rules of chess, just like we need to have a grasp on the rules and commands that God has given us for our own good in our lives. When we break establish principles in chess, there are consequences to those wrong moves which will weaken your army and cause complications and heart aches just like in life. Both chess and life can become very frustrating at times, but a good chess player knows that getting angry will only lead to more mistakes just like getting angry in life will cause the same type of result. It is wise to keep calm and think the chess problems out, just like keeping calm in life is the best for clear thinking. Ecclesiastes 7:9 Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit, for anger resides in the lap of fools.
Chess Is Like Life
There are many other qualities a chess player must master, just like in life. There are other characteristics and qualities that both chess and life have in common if one was to succeed in chess or life, such as: to try to be the best you can be, to be wise, patient, focused, be humble if you win, be content if you do your best and lose, to be able to see both the big picture and also details. Each new chess game is comparable to waking up and starting a new day, each game and each day we can learn from our mistakes, and also learn from out successes. Proverbs 24:32 I applied my heart to what I observed and learned a lesson from what I saw.
In chess you must have confidence, just like in life, other wise your opponent will capitalize on your weakness. Yes, there is pressure in chess at times, but you will also find much pressure in life too, and it is how we deal with those pressures is what influences both the result of our game and also our lives. I like the acronym of G.O.D. = Good Orderly Direction, which is so important in the game of chess and in life also! 2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
I encourage you to get out your chess set and play a game today!
