Do Not Be Fooled ~ Marijuana Is Not Safe!

Marijuana may seem enticing at first, but it’s important not to be fooled for a moment because it is, without a doubt, a gateway drug. While marijuana can initially appear exciting and fun, in reality, it can cause significant damage to one’s life when used more heavily. The main active ingredient of cannabis that gets people high, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), is indeed a gateway drug, leading individuals like myself down the path toward harder drugs. It is essential to understand that THC is an old hallucinogenic drug with significant effects on the brain and body. Therefore, we should encourage caution when considering using marijuana, as its use could lead to severe harm in ways you never thought possible.

I Did Not Know When To Stop The Marijuana And Beer!

My drugs and drinking at first were exciting and captured my attention. Still, after a short while, I could see that I was not only doing something I knew was wrong, but I had to start lying to others, like my parents, to cover my tracks and the integrity that I had begun to leave me. The devil was getting the better of me, and things seemed to snowball over time for the worst!
Matthew 26:41 Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.
Is the cost of being considered one of the guys worth it? I partied like I played basketball—with all my heart. I tried to outdo others. Seeking recognition and attention are unyielding motivators in my life. With my natural personality, I created a monster that got increasingly out of control when I added drinking and drugs to it. I added drinking and drugs to it. I created a monster getting increasingly out of control. There were many times that I would drink as much as I could to be one of the guys and belong (belong to what, and for what reason, I do not know?).

Low Self-Esteem And Marijuana!

People who make radical choices are not necessarily “bad” people. Instead, if they are anything like me, they most likely have low self-esteem, a strong desire for attention, or possibly do not care what others think and love to be different.
My basketball testimony went from one extreme to another, but thankfully, the Lord kept me near to him, and in time, my life was redeemed from the locusts that ate it away. I praise God for his love and faithfulness in my life!

Do You Have A Drug And Alcohol Problem?

I look back at people with low self-esteem and my drinking problem! I might have had some so-called fun, but looking back, it was not worth it to me to get involved with drugs and alcohol as I did. Kids nowadays cannot see past the present to understand what they are heading into when they choose to become one of the guys.

Proverbs 23:31 Do not gaze at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup when it goes down smoothly. Ultimately, it bites like a snake and poisons like a viper! How important is it to guard our eyes to what we watch and our ears to what we hear?

I liked the taste and feeling I used to get from marijuana, I could smoke it all day if I had the chance, and many days I did just that.

Tattoos And Marijuana?

I was into myself and trying to find ways to make myself feel good—I thought it would make me happy. So far, I even got a marijuana leaf tattoo (and twenty other tattoos) on my left arm to be radically different and gain attention. I was young and foolish and did not want to be told I could not do what I wanted.
When I worked at Faith Indeed, thank God, my boss offered to remove my tattoos for free. I priced them before that time, and I found out they cost $400 per operation, and it turned out that I had 13 surgeries. My boss, Bill, was very good and generous to me; it was a blessing from God!
I just wanted to fit in and be accepted, and marijuana and alcohol were the common denominators that were my so-called “ticket in.” Looking back at the foolishness I put myself and my family through. It sure was a waste of time and life.

Some Specific Scriptures To Encourage You:

1 Peter 5:8 ESV

Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 ESV

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

Ephesians 5:18 ESV

And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,

1 Peter 4:7 ESV

The end of all things is at hand; therefore, be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers.

Romans 13:13-14 ESV

Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.
