Bad things happen when gratitude seems elusive in life’s trials and tribulations. Jesus even told us we would have many problems, but not to worry because He has overcome the world. Things could be worse! I remind myself to make a mental list of all I can be grateful for. This simple act constantly encourages me by shifting my perspective from what is lacking to what already exists in abundance. Helen Keller once wisely remarked, “The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision.” These profound words resonated deeply with me because they highlight the importance of keeping our focus on something greater than ourselves: Jesus Christ! Keep your mind on things above; things could be worse.

Philippians 4:12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.

Be patient and trust that God is in control. You will soon understand why God allows certain things to happen in your life.  

Trust in God, for He will never leave or forsake you, even in bad times. When we choose the broad road instead of the narrow highway, we can be assured that, at some point or another, the broad road will boomerang back in negative ways.
