1. God’s Plans for My Life
Lord, I have been making sure I take the time to pray and keep on praying to you to understand what your plan for my life is. Before I turned my life over to you, I have done things I thought were okay, but then, later on, discover that when I understood you more, I realized my plans for my life are not always the same as your plans. I have often wondered how those people who do not have faith in you can make it thought crisis in their life, sometimes even being in a relationship with you Lord, it is still difficult to cope with things during hard times quite often.
Lord, I thank you for revealing yourself to me. I hope that more people will seek you also to discover your plan. I try to share my faith with people I meet, yet sometimes act like a deer with bright lights in their eyes. Lord, I was hoping you could help me to seek your wisdom when sharing my testimony with others.
Lord, I thank you for the comfort I have as a believer knowing that you promise us that you have a plan for our life,
I pray that this can open more people’s hearts and minds with your help for them to have the ability to understand what you want for them to do. And that I can get to know you more and become wiser each day because of my relationship with you.
Lord, you didn’t save me from a life without pain; you saved me from a life without meaning. Your word is my compass, and I thank you ahead of time for watching over me as you guided me along in my journey through life each step of the way, both the good days and the not so good days, trusting that your plans are perfect and mine are not.
Proverbs 21:30 There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord.
Lord, I have tried to make it my way of life and my habit and my goal to help anyone in any way that I can, as often as possible within reason. Lord, thank you for allowing me to help care for my mom for the last eight years of her life. I enjoyed serving her needs, and it seemed only right to me since she helped me when I was going through my many difficult years. Lord, you teach us to love one another. We all need one another in some way. I pray Lord that you can help each of us find out who we can help, and also who can help us? None of us are Lone Rangers. We need one another.
Lord, never let me forget that encouraging others and doing good works does not get us automatically into heaven. It is by your sacrifice that makes me right with you, not by anything I can do or say. I have learned the need to be cautious and to use wise discretion and be able sometimes to say no when it is merely common sense to do so. Lord, if I can not help someone physically, I can always support them spiritually by praying for them.
help us to encourage others so they too can have their load lightened at least temporarily. Lord, I figured out that if I need some encouragement, and the great idea is to try to help inspire someone else today, I have been amazed how I have become be encouraged by doing so. Help us to point others to you, Lord. We thank you for the abilities you have blessed me to be able to help others. Lord, I know as a special blessing from you, that when I encourage someone else, it is like putting perfume on them, I can not help but to get a little on me in the meantime.
Hebrews 3:13 But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.
God has placed within each of us an immeasurable, unique gift. It is our duty to live that out to the full and to encourage one another with gusto. ~ Merle Dandridge is a Japanese-born American actress and singer.
Lord, I believe and know that it is always best to do what is right, not what feels good necessarily. Having fellowship with other believers in the church, helps us grow as a Christian and helps teach us more about you. Lord, when I hear your Word spoken by the pastor, it helps feed me spiritually, keeps me growing mentally, and on the right path in my life. Choosing to decide to live my life for you Lord is a great decision and one that is extremely critical. I have in the past thought that going to church can be boring is something that has to do with my attitude.
Lord, help me to change my view if that ever becomes the case, because I know that is not from you Lord, it is right from the deceiver the devil himself. Having an attitude of gratitude to be with other believers and learn more about you; God is so beneficial to me and all those who attend. I pray that you help those Lord who do not like the idea of going to church, please don’t wait for a hearse and six men to take them to church, please have them come to you walking freely on their own.
Help me to understand the importance of attending church regularly and share it with others. I am thankful for the church to have taught me your word, and being able to have fellowship with other believers as a part of a family. Please open our eyes to have a better attitude concerning church and others in the church that I attend with. Please help me to enjoy the fellowship with other believers and hearing your word spoken by the pastor.
Hebrews 10:25 Not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Anyone who is to find Christ must first find the church. How could anyone know where Christ is and what faith is in him unless he knew where his believers are? ~ Martin Luther was a German professor of theology, composer, priest, monk.
Lord, when I became born again, I immediately stopped living the way I used to live, I still had some character flaws, but my attitude changed 360 degrees. Being born again, I can now find my joy in knowing you, Lord Jesus, and live my life for you. I do not live any longer for my old self since I am a new creation in you Christ. In that case, I need to have my behavior (thoughts, words, and deeds) reflect the faith we have in my heart, which comes from accepting your Holy Spirit into my life.
Lord, I will still sin at times, but I have you as my advocate as you already died for my sins, you forgive me and have redeemed me. I was most excited about having a new life in you, Lord, and I pray that others experience that also, that is why I share your good news of the gospel with others and share encouragement cards with approximately over 100,000 in the past 12 years.
I am wise enough not to say the prideful words, “I would never,” but instead say ”by God’s grace, I would never” do this or that. Thank you, Lord, for giving me a new life and dying for my sins that I had no way to pay for myself. Thank you for making way for me to have a new life.
Galatians 2:20: I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
5. Find Courage
Lord, it has been said that only the strong will survive, there is some truth to that, if we are getting our strength from you Lord, that is the only what counts, not the courage that I can muster up on our own. In difficult times, I always try to keep my head level, and my eyes focused on you Lord in every situation that you can help find the encouragement and strength I need in you, Lord, not in my power. I believe that one definition of courage is being scared to death but still trying anyway.
all we consistently hear is about many horrific things on the local news, in the newspaper, on the radio, and the internet. It helps to know that you are in control even when things are going wrong, or life seems to be unfair and out of control. You have given me and all of us free will, yet with free will, others are also free to do acts of evil such as violence and crimes. Lord, please help me to lean into you to gain the courage I need to make it each day.
Joshua 1:9: Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged; for the LORD, your God will be with you wherever you go.”
I learned that courage was not the absence of fear but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear. ~ Nelson Mandela South African anti-apartheid revolutionary political leader served as President of South Africa.
Lord, I pray that I can be the best witness possible to others; sometimes, my witness will be reviled in how I handle myself can send a strong message to others. I have discovered that handing out encouragement business cards is a great way to witness to others. Lord, the encouragement cards point people to you, which is my goal, via my website, which gives people the time to think and ask questions at their own pace.
Lord, people can argue with me about you, Lord, and the Bible, but they can not debate with me concerning my testimony, because it is my account of how you have worked and are working in my life personally. Everyone’s testimony can be a little different, yet based testimonies are based on faith in you Lord and what your word proclaims.
I pray that others, too, can come to know you as Lord and Savior. Give me boldness, respect, kindness, wisdom, and patience when I witness to others, increase my confidence in you, Lord, when I share my faith. I want to be a witness for you with my life, as well as my lips.
Acts 1:8: But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
7. Be a Disciple
Lord, I have been saved by your grace and sacrifice on the cross, and I want to share the good news of the gospel with others so that they, too, can be saved and have a relationship with you Lord. Not sharing our faith would be like having the cure for cancer, and not willing to share it with anyone. That person would be a monster if they would not share the treatment or cure.
Lord, to be a Christian disciple, I need to want to display my love to others. Teaching others about your love Lord, and mercy, and spending time with the other person are essential factors in being a disciple of you, Lord for them to get an understanding.
and spread your gospel to others that I come in contact with each day. I believe that most people who come to know you, Lord, as their Personal Lord and Savior, have a chain link of people that have influenced them. Please help me to witness my faith to others respectfully and compassionately with both my words and the way I live my life, with love and boldness. I pray that those I share the gospel with will have ears to hear your truth.
John 13:35 By this all men will know that you are my disciples if you love one another.”
Church attendance is as vital to a disciple as a transfusion of rich, healthy blood to a sick man. Dwight L. Moody ~ evangelist and publisher connected with the Holiness Movement, who founded the Moody Church
Lord, I believe it is so very wise to pace myself and make sure I get good night sleep, and extra rest when I work extra hard. Sometimes I can be refreshed by working out at the gym, other times by getting a 20-minute nap or extra sleep when I can.
Lord, I recall my pastor Dave Briscoe who told me something while I was struggling through my separation and divorce, he said to me, “Life is a marathon, not a sprint, throttle down, or you will run out of gas.” That was excellent advice. Sometimes, I need to know when to push myself, and other times when to pamper myself, so in that case, it is wise to ask you, Lord, what I need to do and when to do it. If I want to feel more alive, and upbeat, then I ought to try cheering someone else up, it always seems to work for me. Other times when I am down, it helps me, Lord, to try to lift other people’s spirits, when I do that, I always seem to get a blessing from it.
Because sometimes life can be very stressful and overwhelming. I trust your wisdom that you will give me what I need, and when I need it. Not before the right time, or not late, but in your perfect timing, Lord. Sometimes I can seem to renew my strength when I am quiet and alone, or other times being social with many people at once. Keep me strong for my sake and others I know and love, and to always try to glorify you with my life.
Isaiah 40:31: but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
We need quiet time to examine our lives openly, and honestly – spending quiet time alone gives your mind an opportunity to renew itself and create order. ~ Susan L. Taylor, American editor, writer, and journalist.
9. First Things First
Lord, first of all, I think it is very beneficial for me to take some time to think clearly about what I value in our life. Help me to pursue them if they are good and in your will. I found that it is crucial to take care of the essential things in life first, such as my relationship with you, Lord, my family, my friends, my work. When I do not prioritize things, I am bound to overlook or not have time to do what is most important.
Lord, I like the acronym G.O.D. = Good Orderly Direction, when I think of that, it makes me prioritize what indeed is essential. Practicing discipline to me is the ability to do the things that I do not want to do, to accomplish what you need for me, and what you want in my life, no matter how I may feel about it. Lord, are there any areas in my life that you may want me to organize better?
help me to keep my priorities lined up with yours. Help me to follow you and not be lead astray by the world, my flesh, or the devil. Lord, your purpose for today’s events, are often not seen until tomorrow. Please help keep my priorities in line by practicing the first things first.
Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Lord, It would wise if I was going on a trip to make sure I brought a map or GPS or have a plan to follow. Lord, I believe life is like a long journey. You have always given me clues on how to navigate through life with help from your Word. Lord, I also thank others who have loved me and tried to teach me right from wrong. I have learned through many people who have mentored me.
Lord, I have learned from my own experience that when I have put my Bible down for a while, “coincidentally,” my life seems to start to come apart slowly. I have determined that reading my Bible is not an optional thing for me Lord, it is a necessity. The Bible will keep me on the right road and point out detours ahead of time for me when I rely on it. The Bible is one of the oldest books, and you, Lord, are the author who inspired the writers to write it, which I thank you for.
Not as a mechanical habit or legalistic ritual, but as a part of my relationship with you, Lord. Please do not let me get lazy or distracted by things of this world, my flesh, or the devil (that is what the devil would want). Lord, please help me to stay in your Word faithfully each day and also that I keep praying to you. Lord, the Bible can help keep me from sin; also, sin can keep me from the Bible, give me wisdom and strength to always try to do what is right.
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
“Reading and understanding the Bible involves lots and lots of interpretation. Not just in light of the world and culture around us, but about other parts of the Bible.” ~ John Piper is an American Reformed Baptist pastor and author and founder of DesiringGod.org.
