We all wish we could have a new life at some point. The beauty is that you can be born again and embrace a fresh start. God desires a deep and meaningful relationship with you, just as much as you may long for the same thing. You might sense the need for a new life in your heart, but what are you willing to let go of to receive it? Reflecting on my journey is amusing and humbling, and I’m thankful for my new life. Looking back, I used to love drinking and doing drugs, getting tattoos, and smoking cigarettes, and now all those things turn me off! Today, I am actively trying to help others quit those destructive habits, from one extreme to another!

I learned that life is not about me and what I want or like. Instead, it is about doing God’s will and loving one another. Today, I focus on actively helping others break free from these destructive habits and sins – going from one extreme to another! Along this transformative path, I have realized that life is not solely about satisfying my desires or preferences; instead, it revolves around fulfilling God’s will and loving one another wholeheartedly. I firmly believe that God had a unique plan for me – an opportunity to embark on a new life filled with purpose. Before setting His divine inspiration into motion within me, He wanted me to comprehend that incredible plan first fully. ~ Bill Greguska

2 Corinthians 5:17   Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

Want A New Life ~ Remember That Life Is Short?

Start A New Life – Love God And Your Neighbor!

The old is gone, and the new has come. The things I used to love, such as loud rock n roll music, have changed. First, I started listening to Reggae music in 1982, and Christian music mixed in with some light rock that was much more peaceful—more peaceful than I grew up with when I was using drugs and alcohol.
There were many marked differences in my life, from the length of my hair to the clothes I wore to how I talked and acted. I was ready for a new life but did not realize that back then. But the most significant difference was that God gave me a new heart to start seeing life differently in His way rather than my own.
John 3:3  Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”

The Holy Spirit Gives Us New Life In Jesus!

Do You Realize That God Knows Our Hearts?

I heard and knew about God while I was growing up. But it was not until I began living for God in 1986 that He started working in my life. I wish I could have done some parts of my life differently. My life has not been a total waste by any means. God knew what I would do and not do in my life, and He has given me free will. God knows each of our hearts since He created and sustained us! 2 Timothy 1:9  He has saved us and called us to a holy life-not because of anything we have done but because of his purpose and grace. This grace was given to us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time.
God has shown me many things along the way, as He has worked to put them back together with my life.  Jesus has been my shepherd on this journey. I have learned that just because something like basketball, drugs, or alcohol feels good doesn’t make it right. I am thankful my basketball testimony eventually turned from a nightmare into a good story because of God!

Start Your New Life With Christ!

Through a relationship with Jesus Christ, you can have real, lasting peace today. Start your four-step journey now!

Step 1 – God’s Purpose: Peace and Life

God loves you and wants you to experience peace and eternal life—abundant and eternal. The Bible says:

“We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Romans 5:1

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.”
John 3:16

“I [Jesus] came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
John 10:10

Why don’t most people have this peace and abundant life that God planned for us to have?

Step 2 – The Problem: Sin Separates Us

God created us in His own image to have an abundant life. He did not make us robots to love and obey Him automatically. God gave us a will and freedom of choice. We choose to disobey God and go our own willful way. We still make this choice today. This results in separation from God. The Bible says:

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
Romans 3:23

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 6:23

Our choice results in separation from God. People have tried in many ways to bridge this gap between themselves and God…The Bible says:

“There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.”
Proverbs 14:12

“But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear.”
Isaiah 59:2

No bridge reaches God… except one.

Step 3 – God’s Remedy: The Cross

Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose from the grave. He paid the penalty for our sins and bridged the gap between God and people. The Bible says:

“For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”
1 Timothy 2:5

“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that He might bring us to God.”
1 Peter 3:18

“But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8

God has provided the only way… Each person must make a choice…

Step 4 – Our Response: Receive Christ

We must trust Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and receive Him by personal invitation. The Bible says:

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come into him and eat with him, and he with Me.”
Revelation 3:20

“But to all who did receive Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.”
John 1:12

“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Romans 10:9

Will you receive Jesus Christ right now?

Here is how you can receive Christ:

  • Admit your need. (I am a sinner.)
  • Be willing to turn from your sins (repent) and ask for God’s forgiveness.
  • Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the cross and rose from the grave.
  • Through prayer, invite Jesus Christ to come in and control your life through the Holy Spirit. (Receive Jesus as Lord and Savior)

We suggest a prayer like this one:

“Dear God, I know I am a sinner. I want to turn from my sins and ask for Your forgiveness. Also, I believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son. who died for my sins and that You raised Him to life. I want Him to come into my heart and take control of my life. I want to trust Jesus as my Savior and follow Him as my Lord from this day forward. In Jesus’ Name, amen.”

Did you pray this prayer?

Start Your New Life!

Do you want a new start in your life? Being inspired and motivated by what God did in my life, in 2007, I started the website, Needencouragement.com during a sad time in my life after my separation and divorce. I had a lot of time to reflect on what was going on and my life, which resulted in my writing a book about my life story and how God can use both right and wrong and have things turn out right for those who trust and follow Him. Pastor Ron Sauer and his wife, Sue, encouraged me through a difficult marriage and divorce.

Life Got Better!

(This is part of The Book I wrote)

Lord, it was hard to believe I could actually give up alcohol and drugs and the problems that came with them after all those years of addiction. It was like my life was uprooted and replanted into good soil. I thought I was going to die a drug addict and alcoholic, but you had different plans for my life.

Lord, I believe that help from my mom, counselors, Narcotics Anonymous (NA), and even my basketball training had some effect on my life and recovery. In basketball, I learned to battle against the odds and to dig in and not give in. But ultimately, it was you, Lord, who set me free. I thank you for doing that good work in me and that I was willing to accept the help I badly needed.

Lord, when I played basketball, I played my best to win. I transferred some of that attitude to my recovery and relationship with you. Lord, you and I worked things out for good. It was two more years before I could give up cigarettes, but with your help, I did that, too. All my problems did not go away just because I stopped drinking and using drugs, but I was now able to deal with my difficulties with a clear mind for the first time.

Matthew 26:41 ~ Jesus said, “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

I am simply trying to struggle through life, trying to do God’s bidding. ~ George Lucas, filmmaker, and entrepreneur, known for creating the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises.
